Our review

Nobody wants the full blast of an overhead bathroom light at three in the morning — it wakes you all the way up and the trip back to bed is a write-off. This little light solves it for a few dollars. A flexible PVC neck drapes over the rim of the bowl and bends to fit any shape, and a motion sensor lights a soft glow only when you walk in — and only when the room is already dark, thanks to a built-in light sensor, so it won't waste battery in daylight. It stays on for about two minutes after the last movement, then switches itself off.

It clips on in seconds with no tools, and one button cycles through 8 colors (or a rainbow mode) so you can aim by a soft glow without jolting yourself awake. At 4.2 stars it's a genuinely useful few dollars, with two honest caveats from the reviews. The motion sensor triggers best when you're seated and facing it — standing users (boys especially) sometimes don't set it off, which undercuts the no-mess pitch. And it's unmistakably a cheap gadget: it runs on 3 AAA batteries (not included) you'll swap now and then, and a number of reviewers report it dying within months to a year or so.

FAQ

Does it stay lit all the time?

No — it only comes on when it senses motion and only when the room is already dark, then switches off about 2 minutes after the last movement.

Will it fit my toilet?

Almost certainly — the flexible PVC neck bends to drape over the rim of most bowl shapes without any tools.

Why doesn't it always turn on?

The sensor triggers best when you're seated and facing it; standing users sometimes don't set it off, and remember it only works in the dark.

How is it powered?

3 AAA batteries (not included). There's no wiring, but you'll replace the batteries occasionally depending on use.
